NL: Mooi plekken moeten gedeeld worden en ik laat je graag de plantenkant van Amsterdam zien! Rustig dwalen tussen de planten, nieuwe soorten ontdekken en een momentje rust pakken. Plant shop: Wildernis
EN: The dream of every plant lover; to have a home like the Wildernis store. Everywhere you look, there are plants. From tiny cacti to huge tropical foliage plants. Take your time browsing here. Even though it’s not big, there are plants hidden in every nook and cranny. Don’t forget to look up and have a look at the large hanging plant collection. You can also drink a cup of coffee here!

NL: De droom van elke plantenliefhebber; om een huis te hebben, zoals de Wildernis. Overal waar je kijkt zijn planten. Van mini cactusjes tot gigantische tropische planten. Neem je tijd om hier een kijkje te nemen. Het is niet heel groot, maar in alle hoekjes en gaatjes zitten planten verstopt. En kijk ook eens boven je hoofd, voor de grote verzameling hangplanten. Je kunt hier trouwens ook een kopje koffie drinken.
Hortus Botanicus
EN: My favorite botanical garden is in the middle of the city of Amsterdam. Imagine yourself in the jungle during cold winter days by visiting the tropical greenhouse. Or let your summer outfit stand out in the desert greenhouse. An impressive collection of airplants/Tillandsias might give you enough courage to try growing them at home. And they have a small butterfly greenhouse. In addition to all plants, there are also regular lectures and tours on specific topics.

NL: Midden in de stad zit mijn favoriete botanische tuin. Waan je in de jungle tijdens koude winterse dagen door de tropische kas te bezoeken. Of laat je zomer outfit extra goed tot recht komen in de woestijnkas. Een indrukwekkende collectie airplants/Tillandsia’s geven je misschien weer wat moed om er zelf ook een in huis te nemen. Én ze hebben een kleine vlinderkas. Naast alle planten zijn er ook regelmatig lezingen en rondleidingen over specifieke onderwerpen.
Botanische Tuin Zuidas
EN: The VU hortus is a bit outside the city center and is also called the Zuidas Botanical Garden. A wonderful garden and greenhouses full with all kinds of plants, in which you keep looking and discovering. The cactus collection is particularly impressive. If the door is closed, the employees in the store can open it for you. In the summer months all the palms and a lot of the cacti and succulents are set up outside.

NL: De Hortus VU, is een stukje buiten het centrum en wordt ook wel de Botanische Tuin Zuidas genoemd. Een heerlijke tuin en volle kassen, waarin je blijft kijken en ontdekken. Vooral de cactus collectie is indrukwekkend. Als de deur op slot zit, kunnen de vrijwilligers in de winkel die voor je openen. In de zomermaanden staan alle palmen en een hoop cactussen en vetplanten buiten opgesteld. Check de openingstijden voordat je gaat
Plant shop: De Plantenmarkt Albert Cuyp
EN: A nice plant store with seasoned plant lovers behind the counter. The collection is very variable and that is why it is always nice to just walk in. In addition, it is a good place for large pots that are not too expensive.
NL: Een fijne plantenwinkel met doorgewinterde plantenliefhebbers achter de balie. De collectie is erg wisselend en daarom is het altijd leuk om even binnen te lopen. Daarnaast is het een goede plek voor grote potten, die niet al te duur zijn.
Plant shop: De Balkonie
EN: Amsterdam holds more then one lovely plant store. There’s also De Balkonie, with a location in West and East. They are focussed a bit more on gardening on you balcony, but have a good selection of houseplants and accessories as well.

NL: Amsterdam heeft meer dan één fijne plantenwinkel. Zo is er ook nog de Balkonie, met een lokatie in west en in oost. Ze zijn iets meer gefocust op tuinieren op je balkon, maar hebben ook een goede selectie kamerplanten en accessories.

EN: Small flower- and plantstore with a sometimes surprising collection. A nice place to browse and find that one plant you’ve been searching for!

NL: Een kleine bloemen-en plantenwinkel met een soms verrassende collectie. Een fijne plek om even rond te kijken en misschien die ene plant te vinden waar je naar op zoek was!
Plant shop: Chris Bloemsierkunst
EN: A nice plant store to visit if you’re in the area. The front of the store hold flowers, but the back is a moderately big greenhouse. Lots of different plants and with some surprising finds every now and then.

NL: Een leuke plantenwinkel om te bezoeken als je in de buurt bent. De voorkant van de winkel bevat de bloemen, maar erachter is een redelijk grote plantenkas. Hier staan veel verschillende planten, met soms een verrassende fonds zo nu en dan.
Tuinen in Amsterdam West
Miracle garden & De Slatuinen & De Tuin van Jan
EN: Amsterdam is full of hidden gardens, where we might never be able to take a look. But two of these gardens can be visited on Sundays and a third is always accessible during the day. A small tour through three gardens will give enough inspiration about the place of nature in the city.
The Miracle Garden is a project by artist Elspeth Diederix in the Erasmus Park. There is always something in bloom, from tulips, to lathyrus to dalhias and every week the garden looks different again. My favorite short walk to immerse myself in nature. Open every day.
The Garden of Jan is a garden in a courtyard that is open every Sunday from 12:00 to 18:00. A nature garden where the animals can find their place in the city and where you can relax.
The Slatuinen is a natural garden that is maintained by volunteers. It is hard to imagine how much wild nature is growing in the middle of the city. Open on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
NL: Amsterdam zit vol met verstopte tuinen, waar we misschien wel nooit een kijkje kunnen nemen. Maar twee van deze tuinen zijn op zondag te bezoeken en een derde is overdag altijd toegankelijk. Een kleine tour langs drie tuinen, geeft inspiratie over de plek van natuur in de stad.
De Miracle Garden is een project van kunstenares Elspeth Diederix in het Erasmuspark. Er staat altijd wel iets in de bloei, van tulpen tot lathyrus en dahlias en elke week ziet de tuin er weer anders uit. Mijn favoriete uitje om me even onder te dompelen in de natuur. Elke dag open.
De Tuin van Jan is een tuin op een binnenplaats die elke zondag open is van 12.00 tot 18.00. Een natuurtuin waar de dieren in de stad hun plekje kunnen vinden en waar jij even tot rust kunt komen.
De Slatuinen is een natuurtuin die door vrijwilligers wordt onderhouden. Het is bijna niet voor te stellen hoeveel wilde natuur er midden in de stad aan het groeien is. Open op donderdag van 09.00 tot 16.00 en zondag van 13.00 tot 16.00
Bar Botanique
EN: Here you can drink cocktails, eat pizza in delicious jungle atmospheres and stay the rest of the evening. They know how to keep their plants happy; large strelitzias, palms and monsteras grow between the green walls and special ceiling hangers. There is a nice vintage atmosphere, which makes it the perfect hang out after a day full of plants.
NL: Hier kun je in heerlijke jungle sferen drankjes drinken, pizza eten en de rest van de avond blijven hangen. Ze weten hoe ze hun planten gelukkig moeten houden, grote strelitzia’s, palmen en monstera’s groeien hier tussen de groene muren en bijzondere plafondhangers. En dat alles met een fijn vintage sausje, waardoor het de perfecte plek na een dag vol planten is!
Kas Keerweer
EN: Hidden on the Admiraal de Ruyterweg, between two tall buildings and behind a steel fence is a beautiful old greenhouse, where the grape flourishes. A small group of volunteers regularly organizes workshops and (plant) events here. Like the cutting exchange that happens twice a year. Keep an eye on their Facebook page to see what is coming.
NL: Verstopt op de Admiraal de Ruyterweg, tussen twee hoge gebouwen en achter een stalen hek zit een mooie oude kas, waar de druif welig tiert. Een kleine groep vrijwilligers organiseert hier regelmatig workshops en (planten-)events. Zoals de planten en stekjesruil die twee keer per jaar plaats vindt. Hou de Facebook pagina in de gaten om te zien wat er op komst is.
Cactus kraampje Bloemenmarkt
EN: Okay, okay, I know; the Bloemenmarkt (Flower Market) is super touristy. Tulip bulbs, seeds for weed plants and even more tulip bulbs. But there are a few nice stalls that also have houseplants and are definitely worth a visit. There is a good cactus stall, where you are not allowed to do many things (like take photos and touch cacti for example), but where the ladies are actually quite friendly and the selection is great!
NL: Okee, okee, ik weet het; de Bloemenmarkt is vooral vrij toeristisch. Tulpenbollen, zaden voor wietplanten en nog meer tulpenbollen. Maar er zijn een paar leuke kraampjes, die ook kamerplanten hebben en het zeker waard zijn om eens te bezoeken. Zo is er een goede cactus kraam, waar je vooral veel dingen niet mag doen (zoals foto’s maken en cactussen aanraken bijvoorbeeld), maar waar de dames eigenlijk best vriendelijk zijn en de collectie is super!
